Property Description
You'll be hard pressed to find anything that comes close to this incredibly special home just 2.5 miles from Hopewell Borough and all it has to offer. Transformed from an old stone homestead into an urban feeling farmhouse thanks to the sleek design input of Drezner Architecture and kitchen by Spyglass Designs, function and livability were the keywords that influenced a state-of-the-art glulam beam addition with a kitchen/great room with an industrial vibe, bedrooms with a contemporary flair, and a sun-dappled studio capping the third level. A handmade oak door welcomes into the original part of the home with thick exposed stone walls separating the living room from the bar room with a fireplace, wet bar and a beer tap to boot. Housed in a silo, climb generous custom staircase to 4 bedrooms. The master is delightful in the original part of the house with exposed beams, a big dressing closet, and a beautiful private bath. Three other bedrooms, two with adorable built-ins, laundry and a hall bath complete this level. On the grounds find fenced paddocks, stately trees, and multiple outbuildings including two barns, one with a party room. A note from the architect Jon Drezner: The peaceful scale of the existing old stone farm house and property and the numerous out buildings influenced the direction for the desired additional living space and modernization of the small interior spaces of the 200+ year old farm house. Rather than basically doubling the existing volume resulting in a huge building on the property that would be out of proportion, the addition would have a scale consistent with the existing buildings and landscape. This was accomplished by offsetting the addition with a different "barn-like" aesthetic. A heavy timber structure like for a barn was used. This allowed for the huge main level open space. This structure was exposed thru-out all levels / rooms of the interior. The old stone house was reconfigure as well allowing for larger rooms that again exposed the structure and in this case , the old stone.
